Dodge Neon SRT 4 came from the Dodge Neon stable and shot to glory during 2002-03. In 2003 it was voted the car of the year. SRT actually stands for Street and Racing Technology. The number 4 is indicative of the number of cylinders. The popularity of Neon SRT 4 initiated many an attempt to further upgrade its performance. Engine, filters, spark plugs, under hood components, air intakes and even tires were upgraded. The desire to spruce up your Neon SRT 4 is common to all proud owners of the car. There are authorized websites with the entire range of Dodge Neon accessories to help you make your car stand out in the crowd.

Let’s start with the performance. Websites have air and fuel monitors, air filters, spark plugs and wires. Oils, coolants and nitrous systems are available along with their accessories. Clutches, brakes, differentials, air intake systems, oil filter and radiator cap are all available.

Dodge Neon accessories required to improve the exterior include every item starting with bicycle carriers to body graphics and wings and spoilers to fog lights. Air deflectors, door edge guards, fenders, their covers are available along with front and rear bumpers. Paint protection film, an absolute must, is available and so are all lights, louvres and roof racks. Even license frame and back up sensors are listed on the web.

Let’s take on the interior of your Neon SRT 4. You can order online all covers, carpets, mats, safety kits, shoulder pads, navigation equipment, mirrors, gauges, first aid kits, audio and entertainment equipment, anti theft devices, arm rests, air fresheners and remote start system. Even smoking accessories are available!

If you are a fussy techno savvy owner you can go in for air conditioning and heating equipment, paint and finishing compound and grilles and guards. Pneumatic and power tools are available and so are batteries, their chargers, visors and deflectors.

Finally, if you really want to leave the crowd gasping for breath, there are collectibles like Neon apparel, coolers, hats, watches, key chains and t-shirts!

Car ownership is expensive. Indeed, according to research, average monthly running costs can be as high as your mortgage repayments. But, when cash is tight for many, it’s essential that you understand how to reduce expenditure on your car. Fortunately, say the auto experts, there are three top tips that can see you significantly cut down on the money you spend.

For starters, in order for your car to run, it requires fuel. However, as has been widely reported in recent times, the cost of petrol has risen dramatically. Therefore, if you’re looking to save money, fuel consumption is one of the most logical places to begin.

A car consumes most fuel when it accelerates and breaks. In fact, doing this regularly can add up to 30 percent to your bills. As a result, it pays to keep your speed constant and to cut back on fast driving, especially on motorways. Switching your car off when you are in long traffic jams can additionally save you money.

Ensuring that your tyres are adequately inflated is another way to guarantee economical fuel consumption. In reality, a car with under inflated tyres is not only dangerous, but can also see your monthly costs rise by 10 percent.

The second tip for reducing expenditure is to have your car regularly serviced: carrying out weekly checks on things like oil, coolant and brake fluid is also advisable. In doing so, you’ll be in a better position to identify potential issues early on, thus saving yourself the expense of putting your car in for major servicing work. Additionally, not having your car checked can add to fuel costs, if for instance, the spark plugs or air filters are insufficiently maintained.

Car insurance is the final factor that could see you significantly save on your monthly costs. It’s an unfortunate fact that many people are paying too much for their insurance coverage, with a large percentage not having the right deal for their circumstances. However, by taking some time to understand the insurance marketplace, and the different offers available, it’s easy to save cash.

One of the first things you should identify is what you need to be covered for. Generally speaking, it’s a good idea to be protected against accidental damage, fire and theft. But, do you really have to have optional extras, like a courtesy car?

Fitting security devices can also help to lower the cost of your car insurance premium. For example, using an approved car alarm, or parking in secure areas will show potential insurers that you’re safety conscious, which in turn should help to reduce the amount you’ll be expected to shell out.

To get the best possible car insurance deal, however, it pays to shop around. Indeed, it has been proven that the more research you undertake when looking for an insurance package, the better position you’re in to find one that fits in with your monthly budget.

Car maintenance can be expensive, and the rising cost of gasoline in the United States can really drain, so to speak, the funds available for car maintenance and related costs.

According to Rich White, executive director of the car care council, loose or missing gas caps, under inflated tires, worn spark plugs, and dirty air filters all contribute to poor fuel economy.

Here are some tips, courtesy of the car care council, to help you save money on gasoline, even as the prices continue to climb.

Do not drive aggressively. This can actually lower gas mileage by up to 33 percent on the highway and five percent on city streets, resulting in a cost of 7 to 49 cents per gallon.

Take care of your tires. A smart care maintenance tip in general, since driving with an under inflated tire is the equivalent of driving your car with the parking break on, and can cost you a mile for each gallon.

Watch out for worn spark plugs. Vehicles have four, six, or eight spark plugs, and these fire as much as three million times every on thousand miles, which creates heat, electrical, and chemical erosion. Replace your spark plug regularly for proper care maintenance, and gas conservation as well.

Change your dirty air filter. Air filters clogged with dust, dirt, and bugs cuts off the air and results in more gas than necessary being burned. This wastes gas, and causes the engine to lose power as well.

Watch those gas caps. Approximately 17 percent of vehicles, according to the CCC, have gas caps that are damaged, loose or missing, and this causes 147 million gallons of gas to vaporize each year.

Do not idle excessively. Idling gets you zero miles to the gallon, and you really only need to warm up your vehicle for about one to two minutes.

Watch that speed. As your cars speed increases, gas mileage decreases, and each mph over sixty results in an additional ten cents per gallon cost.

Lose some weight. By simply removing unnecessary items from your vehicle, you could reduce the weight by 100 pounds, which in turn will reduce your MPG by up to 2 percent, based on the percentage of extra weight relative to the weight of the vehicle.

Proper car maintenance is the best way to get the most out of your car, and to make sure that it remains fuel efficient. Do not skip regular visits to the auto mechanic the health of your car depends on them.

A Car Buying Story, Part One: Why and What?

My recent decision to buy a car was not really a voluntary one. I had a small accident in which my almost 20 years old Honda Accord was promptly written off. But it left me without a car.

Car Maintenance: Will it Really Help Gas Mileage?

Car Maintenance: Will it Really Help Gas Mileage?

As gas prices continue to rise, the auto industry is out in full force touting the benefits of car maintenance. Many repair shops even have custom “fuel saver” services. While maintaining one’s car is indeed important, does it really save gas? Before we answer this, let’s step back and look at auto maintenance for today’s cars.

The first question we need to ask is – what does my car need (according to the manufacturer) for it to be considered “maintained.” Today’s cars no longer have distributor caps, rotors, points, and a variety of other ignition components – so these don’t need maintenance. Many vehicles now come with extended service parts such as 100,000-mile platinum spark plugs and life-time fuel filters. Oil change intervals have been extended to 5,000 miles or more. The 3,000-mile oil change is ancient history. Coolant flushes and transmission services aren’t needed until 100,000 miles if at all. Yet, even if we performed all the above services, will they increase fuel efficiency? Probably not. Unless your vehicle is misfiring (i.e., not running on all cylinders), you’re gas mileage is likely fine.

So what part of car maintenance adversely effects gas mileage for the average driver of a late model vehicle? Three things: tire pressure, air filters, and excess carbon.

Tire Pressure: Setting your tire pressure is free, and is the best maintenance service you can perform to maintain maximum fuel efficiency. It’s that simple.

Air Filters: Air filters can indeed get plugged after a considerable amount of driving and can then restrict air flow, which will not allow your fuel to burn efficiently. This can also cause excess carbon build-up, which can reduce miles per gallon. The good news: air filters are cheap ( to ), are easy to install, and usually only need replacement every 30,000 miles.

Excess Carbon: There is another auto maintenance service that “can” help gas mileage. It’s called a fuel system cleaning service. Some repair centers call it fuel injector auto maintenance, or a fuel injection service. Simply, chemicals are added to your fuel system through a variety of orifices to clean out excess carbon deposits on your valves, pistons and intake manifold. This naturally forming carbon (in excess) is not good for gas mileage. Excess carbon absorbs gasoline, which would otherwise be used to power your vehicle. However, before you run out and spend the 0 + to have this service performed, there is one important consideration – the service will only work for vehicles that need it. In other words, yes the stuff works, but you’re vehicle may not have any excess carbon build-up. You wouldn’t wash clean clothes – right?

When you see those “fuel saver” services for 0 to 0, they’ll likely include an air filter, tire pressure check, and a fuel system cleaning service. If you’re wondering whether or not your vehicle needs it, ask yourself the following:

Do I use quality gasoline consistently?

Have I replaced my air filter at least every 30,000 miles?

Have I checked my tire pressure recently?

If you can answer these questions affirmatively, you’re probably ok. Buying cheap, no-name gas once-in-awhile is ok. Replacing the air filter and setting your tire pressure is common sense. Also, if you drive like grandma, get out on the highway and press the vertical pedal at your right foot “all the way to the floor” until your vehicle accelerates to speeds at which you’re not all too entirely comfortable. Then repeat a few more times. This will help clean out excess carbon – FREE – less the cost of fuel. Be careful. Watch out for cops.

In summary, follow your manufacturer guidelines for your car’s maintenance – not ones designed by those who stand to benefit most. Use name-brand fuel, set your tire pressure now and again, pop in an air filter, according to your car’s recommended interval, and don’t be afraid to drop the hammer now and again.

Automotive Repair Tools to Help Your Car Perform Better and Last Longer

Automotive Repair Tools to Help Your Car Perform Better and Last Longer

For many of us, our car is a very important part of our lives. Having a vehicle means freedom, convenience, and are a way to get around at will. You have worked hard to save every spare dollar so you had enough for a down payment. Each month you have to keep making your car loan payment and afford insurance coverage. But when your car needs auto care, the expense can hurt your budget. That’s why these tips for getting inexpensive car engine parts and car repair tools can make a big difference in your month-end finances.

Mainenance Costs: Engine Repair Tools for Much Less

If you have a minor repair such a maintenance problem, why not cut costs by doing it yourself? There are many “how-to” online tutorials and printed books that can show you step-by-step. The bonus is that you’ll only be spending money on the parts and supplies.. The auto repair shops can really mark up the parts, plus, you’ll be paying them for labor at upwards of about an hour. If you aren’t comfortable with doing any of these tasks yourself, ask your family or friends if they can help you out or consider taking your car to a college campus to have supervised students do the work. Many friends and family are glad to help out and can be paid for their time with a six-pack or a pizza lunch; student training facilities can cut the costs in half for you.

Automotive Care Costs: Discount Auto Parts and Services for Less

Additional non-major repairs that require a little more skill can still be accomplished by yourself. Take, for example, resurfacing rotors, figuring out what an engine code means, or replacing spark plugs. Local car parts stores often times offer less-expensive diagnostic and resurfacing services than at the specialized repair shops. Diagnosing engine codes can be especially frustrating. In some states, you can drive to your parts supplier and they can run the diagnostic test for you to determine the problem. However, some localities don’t allow this, but the code-reading tool is inexpensive to purchase (approximately 0). It can cost or so to have your dealer run a diagnostic test on your car’s computer. But for the cost of 2 diagnostic tests you can have this handy tool at your convenience right at home!

Basic Maintenance and Automotive Care Don’t Have to Break the Bank

Rotor resurfacing can be tricky because they have to have enough “meat” on them in order to be resurfaced. A specific range of rotor metal in millimeters must be met to remain at a nominal depth. Don’t worry, however, because the resurfacing shops will tell you on the spot if they meet the thickness requirements. Additionally, they have the machine right there to get the job done. In an equally easy manner, spark plugs are available for purchase at the automotive care and supply store and the minimum gap is displayed clearly on the package. A gapper tool for your spark plugs costs only or less if you don’t already have one. You can also rotate your own tires by using a standard jack.

It is possible for you to save tons of money by doing your own maintenance on your car. You can stretch your dollar and the life of your vehicle, and use the left over cash to enjoy more time on the road!

Lawnmower Maintenance Tips That Help Produce The Best Lawns

Lawnmower Maintenance Tips That Help Produce The Best Lawns

If you spend a little time regularly to properly care for and maintain your lawnmower, this can be beneficial in a number of ways. The first is that your lawnmower will last on awful lot longer, and the second is that your lawn will look better because the mower will be cutting it more evenly. So let’s review a few lawnmower maintenance steps to help you get the best results for your lawn.

Actually, having the proper mower for your lawn is the first step. If you have a very large yard, a riding lawnmower or lawn tractor will probably make most sense. If your yard is small to medium sized, perhaps a walk behind mower with high wheels will work better, especially if your yard has any steep slopes. If it’s a small yard, you might be able to get away with an electric mulching lawnmower or even a reel type push mower instead. There are pluses and minuses to every mower type mentioned above. But most often the size of the yard will be the largest deciding factor in which kind of mower needs to be used.

So now that you have the mower selected, it’s time to keep it maintained and well cared for. Since the heavier mowing seasons began in the springtime, it’s a good time of year to spend time on your mower to thoroughly clean it and make any necessary repairs to get it ready for the mowing season ahead. Perhaps the first place to start is with the spark plug. By removing it, you can usually tell quickly whether or not it appears to be worn and in need of replacement. Since spark plugs are very inexpensive, you may just wish to change it out once a year anyway.

While you’re at it, look over all the nuts and bolts that hold the mower together. Because of the vibration that is inherent to a lawnmower, it’s very easy for nuts and bolts to loosen up over the course of a mowing season. Sometimes this will even happen without your knowledge, and the bolts may fall off altogether. Having a regularly scheduled time to look over all of the mower bolts will usually help you stay on top of this problem.

At least twice through the mowing season you should try to clean off the deck of the lawnmower to help promote consistent cutting and avoid spreading grass diseases. In order to clean the deck, empty the gas tank first, and then make sure that the spark plug is not connected. Then you can turn the mower over on its side to clean the deck or undercarriage. Using water, you can usually just scrub off all the dirt and grass that gets stuck up under the mower and accumulates over time. After cleaning this area off let it dry thoroughly before turning the mower back over.

The air filter in a lawnmower should be cleaned and replaced on a regular basis too. Usually the air filter will either be made of paper or foam, but whichever it is just be sure to have the replacement handy. If your lawnmower has an oil filter, which many larger riding mowers and tractors do, then follow the manufacturers instructions very carefully regarding how often to replace your oil filter too.

Perhaps the most important maintenance that you can do to your lawnmower that will have a positive effect on the appearance of your lawn is to keep the mowing blades very sharp. Usually it’s necessary to sharpen your blades every one to two months in order to cut the grass cleanly. If you are using a dull blade instead, rather than cutting the grass, you are actually ripping it, which makes for a very poor uneven cut. If you are unable to sharpen the blade yourself, then have a professional do it for you.

When the mowing season is over, and it’s time to put your mower away for the year, remove all of the gas from the gas tank, and drain the oil from the engine.

By consistently and properly caring for your lawnmower, you can help make it last for many years and keep your lawn looking it’s best too.

You can find lawn mower reviews and lawn tractor reviews by visiting our Home Improvement website.

Earplugs and Noise Cancellation: Can Ear Plugs Help?

by admin on Jun.03, 2010, under Best Spark Plug

Earplugs and Noise Cancellation: Can Ear Plugs Help?

Specialized ear plugs are emerging as practical and affordable hearing protection because people are realizing that the dangers of everyday or occupational noise on their hearing can lead to irreversible hearing loss.

According to the World Health Organization, harmful noise poses health risks, annoyance, sleep disturbance, increases stress, affects the immune system, and has implications on the cardiovascular system.  These alarming findings ushered in noise cancellation technology and the creation of noise canceling or reducing devices for different purposes and individual needs.

Ear plugs were once exclusively used for water sports to prevent ear infections caused by water trapped in the inner ear, but are now designed for noise prevention for everyday use.  When used, these reduce noise levels by 26 to 35 decibels.

Noise Cancellation Solutions

Noise cancellation technology provides a low-cost and practical remedy for the reduction of excess noise.  There are various noise elimination solutions with different Noise Reduction Rates (NRR) developed to reduce the high pitched and loud harmful sounds in the environment.  But this technology is still being perfected. In the meantime, ear plugs provide an alternative to diminish dangerous sound levels.

People can prevent hearing problems and gradual hearing loss by avoiding daily exposure to noise and wearing ear protection against noise.  There are different noise reducing solutions for different purposes – air travel, auto races, firearms, music, sleep, and study.  These noise reduction plugs, are made with soft moldable silicone or disposable foam and there are sizes to outfit children and pets.

When Do You Need Noise Cancellation Solutions?

Noise is everywhere. Whether at home or at play, there’s always the noisy lawn mower, the consistent whir of the fans, and the noise of the washing machine and TV may seem harmless.  But prolonged exposure without any protection against hearing damage can be fatal to one’s hearing.  At work, unwanted noise is always present too.  The din of traffic and of nearby ongoing construction can also damage your hearing slowly.

When should you use ear plugs and what type should you use?

MusicSafe Pro – This is best for DJs and musicians because this does not muffle the music so it still sounds natural.  Two types of attenuation filters can be used with this.  For concerts, the silver filter is recommended.  For the pub environment, the white filter is best. Using these during rock concerts and similar activities can diminish or prevent tinnitus or ringing in the ears.
Pillow Soft Earplugs – This has dual purposes, it perfectly seals out water when swimming and eliminates noise that disturbs sleep and is best for air travel because it reduces noise by 22 decibels with proper use.
SleepSoft – This reduces noise significantly but does not fully block out background noise.  This is perfect for a user who wants to get some rest yet needs to hear alerts for emergencies.
Alpine MotoSafe – This reduces the harmful noise from motorcycles and shooting ranges.  These can be also custom-fitted for different ear impressions.
Moldex Spark Plugs – With an NRR of 35 decibels, this is highly recommended for industrial use.
Kilnoise foam plugs – should be worn for noisy sports events, sleeping while traveling, and for activities that require concentrated focus.

These earplugs are specifically designed for a certain reason. It would not be wise to just stick to one kind of ear plug for various situations.

Steps That Will Help you Improve your Gas Mileage

by admin on Mar.21, 2010, under Best Spark Plug

If you drive so fast, accelerating and decelerating abruptly, breaking and stopping suddenly, you will definately use more gallons of gas. Most people live in fear of the rising gas prices. Therefore, these people want to get the best mileage out of their vehicles in order to save some money. Nearly all of us have a fantasy of getting into a powerful car and drive thousands of miles without having to fill gas in the car. Nevertheless, getting good gas mileage isn’t a very distant reality. However, there are a few things that can be done to get the best car mileage out of your car.

For the increasing the mileage of your car, you will need the following things:

* Automotive Parts

* Automotive Repair Manual

* Car Oil

* Car Jacks

* Tire Gauges

Improve your Gas Mileage by following these steps:

* Take care of your vehicle. You must clean the interior parts of the engine like the spark plugs, put clean engine oil and have a well-tuned motor that is more efficient than a run-down system.

* You must check your old air filter. If the air filter is clogged and dirty, then you must immediately change the air filter. This will reduce the unnecessary wastage of fuel for the acceleration.

* You must make less use of the air conditioner system of your car. This helps in reducing the amount of power that is used in the running of the Air conditioning system.

* You must use the correct fuel in the car. The recommended fuel is the fuel that contains the octane that has a rating of 86. It is observed that the cars that have very powerful engines require the high-octane gas. If your car is emitting funny noises like shaking uncooked popcorn, then you should use the higher-octane gasoline.

* You must always keep your tires properly inflated. That is you must always check the air pressure in the tires. You must maintain the air pressures in the tires as per recommended by the manufacturer. This helps in reducing the friction between the road and the tires and thus the power used for the acceleration and running smoothly is reduced. Thus, it improves the mileage of your car.

* You must drive at even speeds whenever possible. It is more convenient and improves the mileage of the car.

* You must avoid rushing on a highway. You must use cruise control that saves a lot of fuel.

* You must choose the road that has a flat terrain and requires few stops.

* You must drive on a highway whenever possible. A car driving on a city street consumes more fuel than on highway because of stops and accelerations.

* Once you have set out for doing errands, avoid stopping for long periods when possible as a cold engine consumes more fuel than a warmed up engine.

You cannot control all the factors that affect the mileage of the cars, but many of them are controllable. Hence with the above tips every person can substantially improve the gas mileage of their cars.

8 Tips to Help Prevent Unnecessary Fire Damage

by admin on Mar.19, 2010, under Spark Plug Wires

1. Watch Outlets
Overloaded outlets commonly cause House and office fires. To be safe, always have a circuit breaker and keep an eye on how many watts you’re plugging in. If your house is old, you should have the electrical wiring checked every couple of years for safety.

2. Drape Carefully
Many fabrics and fabric coatings are highly flammable. Always check the flammability of curtains before hanging them anywhere near a floor or ceiling heater vent. It doesn’t even take a spark to light highly flammable material, some can catch flame just by direct hot heat.

3. Store Paper
Having stacks of paper laying around if a fire occurs can make a small fire a big fire in no time. The less paper you have out, the higher chance you have of stopping a fire before it really starts. Storing papers in filing cabinets or drawers is a great way to stay organized and safe at the same time.

4. Check Old Appliances
Old appliances such as old coffee makers, toasters, or even computers can be a dangerous fire hazard. Update your appliances immediately if they begin to smell smoky or work much less well. In addition, unplug any appliance after you’re done using it and store it away properly.

5. Don’t Smoke
Lit cigarettes dropped, improperly extinguished, or forgotten indoors cause a big chunk of house fires. Allowing smoking indoors is inviting a fire hazard right into your home. By having a smoking area outside with an appropriate ashtray you could be saving yourself from danger and stress in the future.

6. Fireproof Garden
Dry bushes, brush and plants around your home can also be quite a fire hazard. Water plants regularly to keep them safe, or remove promptly if you decide not to keep them any longer. Be sure not to have any vegetation near a fireplace or other source of heat within the home.

7. Check Your Roof
The most vulnerable part of you home during a fire is your roof. As the heat and smoke raises it will get trapped under the roof, until it caves in to the heat and flame. The more stable your roof, the better chance your house has. Fiberglass, concrete tile, clay, metal and slate are all great choices, while wood, shingles or slate are more apt to collapse in a fire.

8. Put Away Matches
Children and cats alike get curios with new objects. For this reason, put anything flammable or dangerous away at all times. Matches, gas, oil and lighters should all be stored safely, high up somewhere. Be sure to teach children thoroughly about fire dangers.
