Ethanol Fuel Injection – How To Make Your Car Run On Ethanol

]]>

When you make the choice to switch over to ethanol for your car, there are plenty of changes that have to go along with it. Your current vehicle is set up to use gasoline from the point of consumption to when the last drop is used. Your car has to be converted over using an ethanol fuel injection kit.

Ethanol fuel injection kits can be purchased from reputable companies across the United States and internationally. The reason for getting the fuel injection system is simple — to make your car work better, more efficiently and for it to last longer. There are different ways to look at the fuel injection system to make sure it will run optimally with ethanol.

The ethanol fuel injection kits aren’t going to come with every tiny piece you will need. These are bare-bone kits because every car is slightly different. You will need different size hoses and clamps that you have to purchase separately. Make sure the hoses are of ethanol quality because you don’t want to cause any leaks or tears in the hoses.

The next step is finding a fuel pump that is going to be most efficient with ethanol. Most pumps will use an ethanol-gasoline mix, but there are fuel pumps out there that move the ethanol better. To get the maximum performance out of the ethanol fuel injection, you need the right fuel pump. You will also have to check the carburetor to see if it can handle ethanol. Some carburetors cannot handle ethanol so you will either need to replace it or modify it with one that can pass ethanol. However, on newer cars this shouldn’t be much of a problem.

Replace all filters as well and often in the beginning. You will need to get out all the impurities from gasoline. After you finish converting your car for ethanol fuel injection you want to keep a close eye on your spark plugs. Not all will have a problem, but there is the potential for misfires. If that’s the case, get spark plugs that are for 100-percent ethanol.

If you don’t have much experience with cars, you might want to consider taking the car to a mechanic or someone who specializes in alternative fuels. Knowing your way under the hood of a car is going to be very important. So, if you don’t know the difference between a valve clamp and a spark plug, you are going to be in some serious trouble.

Save Fuel

There are some simple ideas to save fuel. Follow these tips and you will have 10 to 15% savings almost guaranteed.

Slow – It’s boring, but true. Above about 80km / h, driving 10% faster will use between 10 and 20% more fuel, because air resistance is very maior.Pergunte whether the time saved is worth the extra cost.

Close the windows, sunroof and lift the roof rack – reduces air resistance.

Keep the air conditioner off , unless you need in case the weather being hot and humid (but be sure to turn it at least once a month, even in winter, so there is no failure in the compressor).

(Driving in the city, the most economical way to ventilate your car will be opening the windows, but driving at high speed (up ranging from 100 km / h), is really best to keep windows closed and turn the air conditioning).

Throw out the trash – Charging excess weight wastes fuel, so check if you really need to take everything that is in your car.

Anticipate – Instead of accelerating madly and then having to brake heavily in traffic jams, try to anticipate when he left home and moderate your speed so you do not need as much braking and avoid possible accidents. Hard braking energy is playing out!

Keep the inflated tire – Putting the recommended pressure will save fuel and also give a better income for your car. (Goodyear said that if the tires 20% are less inflated, you’ll use up to 10% more fuel!) You may have “low rolling resistance” of tires But the extra cost can not be justified by the fuel you save.

Use higher gears – the engines are more efficient at low speed running high, as much power is wasted just moving the internal engine parts. Look through the gears at 3,000 rpm, this is exactly the ideal regime between power (3,000 RPM).

Do preventive maintenance – not just the engine, but also check tires , Shock absorbers, spark plugs and brakes. If the brakes are worn may cause a greater consumption of fuel due to wear also in the brake pad.

Use the right oil – Use low-viscosity oil, you will notice a small but significant improvement. The 0W30 is better than 10W40, which in turn is better than 20W50. But do not use an oil that is too “thin” for your engine. The ideal is to consult your owner’s manual to avoid future losses.

Top Seven Tips to Save Money at the Fuel Pump No Matter What You Drive

Here are some simple ways to save money by improving your fuel economy—no matter what you drive.

1.Regular check-ups pay off at the pump.
The professionals at RK Buick report that skipping recommended maintenance leads to fouled spark plugs and clogged air and fuel filters.

Clean oil, fresh spark plugs a well-tuned motor, and properly inflated tires coupled with the right octane gas for your car keep it healthy and saves you money.

2.Keeping your cool – windows up or down?
Open windows or air conditioning in hot weather? It depends, says the service team at RK Buick.

Running an air conditioner consumes extra fuel, but driving with rolled down windows leads to drag on the vehicle. Ideally leave windows open when driving slowly in traffic. For highway driving, roll up the windows and turn on the air conditioning.

3.Get the junk out of your trunk.
Hauling excess weight wastes gas. Every extra 100 lbs reduces fuel economy approximately two percent; a loaded roof rack by five percent. Eliminate excess cargo by emptying out trunks, back seats, and roof carriers.

4.A steady pace wins the fuel-economy race.
Speeding cuts into gas mileage. RK Auto Group says you’ll see a 7 percent decrease in fuel-economy for every 5 mph you drive over 65 mph.

Aggressive behavior—such as screeching to a halt or accelerating quickly from a dead stop—can decrease fuel-economy by 33 percent. Save gas by driving at an even speed.

5.Kick it into high gear.
For the greatest fuel efficiency drive in the highest gear possible when cruising at a steady speed on the highway. (This also reduces engine wear.)

6.Avoid cruise control on hills and lower your gas bills. RK Buick says to think about the approaching terrain before you push cruise control.

Cruise control improves gas mileage by maintaining a steady speed—but only on flat roads. Using cruise control on hilly terrain typically uses more gas then if you were operating the accelerator yourself.

7.Keep your engine properly tuned. If your engine is experiencing hard starts, rough idling, or stalling, it could have a negative impact on fuel efficiency. Nine times out of ten, the problem stems from something basic like worn spark plugs, a dirty air filter, or bad ignition wires.

Taking care of the trouble early is not only likely to improve your gasoline mileage – it will also prevent minor problems from becoming expensive repairs later on.

Driving Strategies
The cheapest and easiest way to improve your fuel economy is to change how you drive your existing car.

Air conditioning. As a general rule, if you are driving under 40 miles per hour (MPH), it is more fuel efficient to turn off the air conditioner and roll down the windows. Above 40 MPH, however, the drag on your car created by the open windows causes you to use more gas, so turning on the air will actually improve your fuel economy.

Acceleration. When accelerating, do so gradually. Stomping the gas pedal at every traffic light or stop sign causes your engine to suck fuel to meet the heavy load you are putting on it. A more gradual approach can significantly improve fuel economy.

Deceleration. Let off the gas well before a stop sign or traffic light and allow yourself to coast to a stop while gently applying the brake. Accelerating all the way to the stop and then slamming on the brakes not only wastes gas, it uses up your brake pads more quickly.

Speed. For every ten miles per hour you decelerate, you can save up to 5 miles per gallon (MPG). So if the speed limit is 65 MPH and you drive 55, you can increase your MPG by 5 miles.

Car Maintenance
In addition to improving your driving strategies, use the following car maintenance tips to maximize your fuel economy:

Tire inflation. Make sure you keep your tires properly inflated at all times. This not only lengthens the life of the tire, it will help your fuel economy. By and large, the standard inflation for most car tires is 35 pounds per square inch (PSI). Some mechanics may recommend inflating your tires to 30 PSI to improve riding comfort, which is true, but with gas prices the way they are the best thing to do is maintain proper inflation. Please make sure you check with either your tire dealer or the tire owner’s manual for proper inflation instructions.

Fuel grade. Mountain West states (New Mexico, Colorado, Montana, etc.) offer 85 octane fuel, whereas most other states offer only 87 octane and up. Check your owner’s manual, since some models have a minimum octane requirement. Using a lower octane fuel than what your vehicle has been designed for drastically reduces fuel economy. Also, it does not improve your gas mileage to use a higher octane fuel than the minimum requirement for your car.

Alignment. Most cars need an alignment every three to five years, although your mechanic will recommend you do it more often than that. A simple test of your alignment is to briefly release the steering wheel while cruising at least 55 MPH on a straight stretch of highway. Please make sure there is no oncoming traffic and that it is a calm day! If your car veers immediately to the left or right, have your mechanic check the alignment. Alignment problems affect your fuel economy and wear your tires down more quickly.

Tire rotation and balance. Have your tires rotated every 5,000 miles. This not only improves their life span but also causes them to wear evenly, meaning improved fuel economy for you since they ride more smoothly. Your tires should be balanced when they are first installed, and in general they should not need another balancing. Regularly check for the wheel weights mounted on the rim of each tire on your vehicle. These will be oblong metal pieces clipped to the rim, one per tire. If you don’t see one on your tire, ask your mechanic to balance the tires when he rotates them. Most tire dealers that sell you your new tires will rotate and balance those tires for free.

Tune ups. Check your owner’s manual for the recommended life span of your vehicle’s spark plugs, plug wires, and coils. In general, spark plugs should be changed every 55,000 – 75,000 miles and plug wires every 100,000 – 120,000 miles. If your engine idles very rough, or cuts out easily, have your mechanic check the coils. Also make sure to change out your vehicle’s air and fuel filters regularly. All of these parts affect your vehicle’s fuel economy.

Buying A New Car
When considering purchasing a new car, remember that the miles per gallon estimates posted on new cars are always very optimistic. Those estimates are generated by operating the car in perfect driving conditions, as in 55 MPH on a windless day at sea level on flat ground with the windows rolled up and the air conditioner and radio off. Typically your actual miles per gallon will be two to five gallons less than the estimate.

Go smaller! Technology has improved to the point where many smaller vehicles have high safety ratings and perform very well in adverse driving conditions. Remember that if you spend a little more on a smaller car with posi-traction as opposed to a bigger lunk with four-wheel drive, savings will be realized in improved fuel economy down the road. And you don’t have to put the thing in four-wheel drive, it will do so itself!

Go hybrid if you can. Some very important factors to remember: hybrid and electric car technology is skyrocketing right now, so the vehicles that come out in five to ten years will show enormous improvements over the ones available today. If you have a lot of disposable income and buy a new car every three to five years anyway, go buy a hybrid today. If you are not that lucky, follow the tips above to maintain your current vehicle and tough it out until the car companies can bring to market all the technology in development right now.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/Diesel or Gas – Loud Smoking Dinosaur or Fuel Gulping Monster

In this article I’m going to discuss the properties of the diesel and gas engines, and compare them to each other. I’m specifically referring to their use in automobiles.

Looking at them from a distance both the gas and the diesel engine work in about the same way. A fuel made from refined crude oil is burned inside a cylinder and the hot expanding gasses forces the piston to move. The movement of the piston is then transferred to the wheels through crankshaft, gearbox and transmission.

It’s when we look at the engines a little closer that we start to notice that there are differences. Differences in gas mileage, smell, vibrations, price and expected age to name a few.

Ignition System

The gas engine has an ignition system with high voltages, wiring and spark plugs. The diesel does not need this, it compresses the fuel/air mixture until it’s so hot it ignites all by itself. In the gas engine it’s the spark plug that ignites the fuel-air mixture through a high voltage spark at the right time.

Another thing that separates the diesel from the gas engine is that gas engines adds the fuel vapor to the air in the intake manifold either through a carburetor or through fuel injection nozzles. The air/fuel mixture is then sucked into the cylinder to be burnt the next time the piston strikes.

The diesel on the other hand sucks clean air into the cylinder and then waits for the piston to compress the air as much as it will go. At this time when the air is compressed and hot enough to ignite the fuel, diesel is injected directly into the cylinder (or a small space connected to the cylinder) through high pressure nozzles. The fuel ignites instantly due to the high temperature in the cylinder.

The differences is fuel injection and ignition results in the diesel burning the fuel more efficiently than the gas engine. That’s why a diesel has a better gas mileage than it’s gas powered counterpart.

This is not to say that a diesel is better. It’s different, it has drawbacks too. Diesel engines usually is harder to start in cold and freezing weather. If you remember it was compressed hot air that ignited the fuel. When it’s too cold outside the air will never become hot enough to ignite the fuel, and the engine won’t run.

Cold Starting a Diesel

To handle this diesels have something called glow plugs for handling cold start situations. Electrical power from the accumulator is used to preheat the glow plugs inside the cylinders before the engine is started. This way the hot glow plugs ignite the fuel when the air is not hot enough to do it. Then when the engine starts it only takes a few seconds for the cylinders to get hot enough to ignite the fuel without help and the glow plugs are not needed again until the next cold start.

This is one of the nuisances of having a diesel in your car. The glowing takes from a couple of second to half a minute and can easily lead to stress when in a hurry. You just have to wait until it’s ready or the car won’t start. On the other hand if the engine is well done the glowing does not take long and you soon get accustomed to it.

Lets for a second look at the practical differences between the diesel and the gas engine. The diesel is large and loud, it emits black smoke when accelerating and is generally regarded as bad smelling by those not owning one. It also has a sturdier construction due to the higher pressures it must handle and thus can often go twice as many miles as a gas engine during it’s lifetime. The sturdier construction also makes it more expensive when first bought.

Features of The Gas Engine

* More quiet that the diesel

* Better acceleration and higher top speed

* Uses an Ignition System with Spark Plugs to Light The Fuel

* Adds fuel to the air before letting it into the cylinder

* Not as sturdy as a diesel. Lower price but breaks down faster

* Gas readily available everywhere

Features of The Diesel Engine

* Loud noise, sounds like a truck or agricultural machine

* Slow acceleration (get one with turbo charger, that helps)

* Lower top speeds but can easily reach the legal speed limit in most places

* Uses glow plugs to help the fuel ignite when the engine is cold

* Lets clean air into the cylinder and injects the fuel later

* Engine is simple and robust. Higher price but runs many miles

* Emits black smoke when loading it (like a quick acceleration)

* Easy to convert to using Eco fuel oils

If I where to give you advice on selecting either a gas or a diesel powered car I would probably tell you this: Get a diesel if you drive long trips and can live with the small nuisances of more noise and poor acceleration, get a gas powered car if you drive less than average or if you just want the comfort at any price.

There are two groups who are divided about the benefits of hybrid motors and batteries. There are arguments on how good they are also about how they change the environment for the good.

Car Fuel Saving Devices

by admin on Nov.04, 2010, under Car Spark Plugs

Car Fuel Saving Devices

Due to recent uproar in the economy due to the recent increase of oil price, fuel saver devices for cars were made available in the market as soon as the people saw how much oil prices rose. This was a measure done to avoid any further increase of the price of oil. These fuel saver devices for cars mainly increase the fuel efficiency by decreasing the fuel consumption before it reaches the engine which in turn increases the mileage of the car. They divide the molecules creating oxygen and hydrogen which is used as the fuel source in the engine, which is the basic principle of the system. Generating oxygen and hydrogen in the system which runs as same as petrol or gasoline driven engine can while producing gases with the help of baking soda and distilled water that must be present in the system. Both of these items help to reduce the amount of fuel need in the system which in turn increases the mileage of the car.

The main component needed in the car to use the system is the HHO car fuel cell which helps to use the hydrogen gas instead of gas that is produced by petrol or gasoline. This device is required in addition to the fuel saver devices for cars. A HHO car fuel cell can easily and cheaply be built without any hassle though proper instructions must be taken before doing so. To think that such an item can be made using ordinary hardware stuff is amazing. In the system the process of separating the hydrogen and oxygen is done by using the method of electrolysis. Though, pure water cannot be used as they are not combustible. But using electrolysis, the divided hydrogen and oxygen can be mixed with petrol vapor in the combustion chamber which was sucked through the air intake and ignited by the help of a spark plug present in the car system.

Though, these devices and their functionality are not preferred by many, the system may become faulty and create major disaster at any moment. Scientists do not want to see such unstable systems in the market as they are not fully developed or the car manufacturers would have introduced such an engine with a car. Arguments of such are still happening around us but in order to find the real truth it is better to study the benefits and drawbacks of such engines properly before deciding anything.

Fuel saving devices of such can be installed in every car that is present and is like any other parts that can be installed to a car. Purchasing such equipments is not hazardous but installing such equipments must be done with care. The installation of such equipment should provide no leaks in it as it may prove to be hazardous if it has one. So it is advised to contact a professional while doing such thing. Though the results of efficiency may vary from car to car, the result is definite. The efficiency may be increased by tweaking the cars internal and external designs and maintaining it properly.

Fuel Saver Devices for Cars

Fuel Saver Devices for Cars

When people saw oil prices rising due to a recent boom in the economy fuel saver devices for cars were immediately introduced in the market. The main purpose of these fuel saving devices for cars was to increase the mileage of the car by increasing the fuel efficiency and decreasing the fuel intake before it reaches the car engine. This system works by dividing oxygen and hydrogen thus creating molecules that can be used as the fuel source for the engine. What petrol or gasoline do to drive an engine; oxygen and hydrogen generation do to this system by producing gases with the help of baking soda and distilled water that should be present in the system. Both baking soda and distilled water help reduce the amount of fuel needed to run a car and hence increases the car mileage.

The HHO car fuel is the most important and most useful component needed to run this system. It helps in using the hydrogen gas instead of gas produced by using petrol or gasoline. It is one of the best devices produced to reduce the use petrol and increase the mileage of vehicle. You can easily make one of those HHO car fuel cells yourself following correct instructions or under guidance, it is a hassle free process and does not need much investment, all that you need is ordinary hardware items. A simple method of electrolysis is used in the system to separate the hydrogen and oxygen molecules. You cannot use ordinary water for the process because it is not combustible. The divided hydrogen and oxygen molecules produced by the process of electrolysis are then mixed with water vapour in the combustion chamber, sucked through the air intake and ignited with the help of spark plug in the car.

Though it is a brilliant way to save fuel not many people use this system and this device because of its uncertain nature, it might get faulty and cause a major disaster at any moment. Scientists do not approve of this system either due to its unstable and underdeveloped nature or else the car manufacturers would have long ago built similar devices to increase their cars efficiency. Debates on these issues have been conducted but to have it or not to, can only be decided after knowing the benefits and drawbacks of the same.

fuel saver devices for cars can be installed just like other parts of the cars but with some technical knowledge; though buying them is not a problem but installing them sure is, make sure you have fitted the device well without any leaks or it could be very dangerous. If you’re in doubt always get a professional to do it for you. Whether to install such a device or not completely depends on the choice of the owner, the device is sure a good way to save your car fuel and increase the mileage. The efficiency may be increased by modifying the internal and external design of the car and then maintaining it, but every car accepts it in its own way and the results might vary.

Eco Friendly Clean Green Driving ? Endless Car Fuel Saving Tips Part3

Eco Friendly Clean Green Driving ? Endless Car Fuel Saving Tips Part3

At the time of writing this article, the Dow plunged another 500 points and we are now around 8,500 points. How much have we lost in our stocks, home values and how much disposable income can we squeeze from our existing situation to save and spend less? You exceptionally feel the crunch when you belong to the middle income household, paying a hefty home loan installment, private schools for your children and 2 cars loans.

Today, we continue with part 3 of this series of “Endless Money & Fuel Saving Car Tips” to help you tie over this long recession period. Check out the following simple yet proven effective ways on achieving fuel efficiency, conserving gasoline and attaining cost savings the easy way:

First, if you Do Not need 2 cars, get rid of 1 of them. If your kids need to get to college daily, get up earlier and send them to school before you make your way to work. That could save you a good few hundred dollars a month.

And have you ever considered car-pooling with neighbors who work around your office? If you have to send your kids to school and your wife needs to get to work at the same time, this would be the perfect arrangement, and could even end up helping you fully pay for your gas consumption too!

Did you know that most cars are made to run on regular unleaded? And I got this right from the guide pack from the petrol company’s website! Check it out with your friendly neighborhood mechanic; most will tell you that getting premium unleaded is merely paying extras for cleaning agents that are probably not required. As long as you do regular maintenance checks and tune ups every season, it should surfice.

Get a car with high MPG, miles per gallon. Or better still, check out the GPM, gallons per mile the lower the better. The lesser the gasoline usage, the more miles you cover and the more goes back into your pocket!

When driving, unless you are in the habit of stress testing your engine and gearbox, do not travel in low gears at high speeds. This wears down your gears very fast and hurts the engine performance as well. And, keep good driving habits. Do not reeve your engine before switching off the vehicle. Accelerate slowly when picking up at the stop light.

Never do a jack rabbit start, as it not only consumes much more fuel, it leads to greater carbon monoxide emission and air pollution. Also, you tend to wear the tires out too.

Do regular tune-ups. Check for worn spark plugs, brake pads, low transmission fluid; re-align your wheels, rotate your tires, replace the air filter whenever required.

Do regular oil checks and replace the oil and filter regularly to ensure fuel economy as well as engine longevity. You can also use recycled oil as replacement but ensure that you get them at specialist workshops that does them.

Be a “greenie” and love your environment and save money. Ride the bicycle for short distance travel and whenever weather permit. Better still, walk, the exercise could do you a whole lot of good! And you get to enjoy the scenery too! Always keep your car in good tuned up condition. Smooth running cars utilize much less fuel. A good mechanic is worth a million dollars, or the value of your car really. Check out more Save Money and Fuel information at my website.

Senate Fuel Bill Would ?kill? Michigan

Senate Fuel Bill Would ?kill? Michigan

Automakers and Michigan lawmakers were regrouping Friday in the wake of the approval of a Senate bill that increases corporate average fuel economy mandates by 40 percent by 2025.

The passage of the Senate bill would gravely injure Detroit automakers. This is why the automakers had lobbied hard against the new fuel mandates. They had supported a compromise proposed by Michigan Sen. Carl Levin, D-Detroit, Mark Pryor, D-Ark., and Christopher Bond, R-Mo., among others, that would have raised CAFE rules, but less onerously than the Senate bill.

Nearly the whole Michigan congressional delegation earlier met to tackle how to continue with the struggle. “The bill would mean the death of Michigan,” said U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, D-Brighton. “We owe it to a lot of families who rely on the auto industry to get this right.” Added Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Menominee: “You think things are bad now in Michigan? You haven’t seen anything yet if that bill became law.” Rogers and Stupak said that automakers need to emphasize their advanced technology efforts and push for more assistance to make vehicles like the Chevy Volt a reality.

But Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid, fuming like Eagle spark plugs, said that senators did not find automakers credible for they have “misrepresented the facts” at time. “We don’t believe you anymore,’” Reid said. “The answer is we’ve had enough. It’s time the American automobile manufacturers join with the rest of the world in recognizing that people want to buy more fuel efficient cars.”

Reid said that he had spoken to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who told him fuel economy legislation would be passed “in the near future.” Automakers now are anxious that the fuel bill may be on a much faster track than previously thought. But Pelosi meant September by the words “near future,” said spokesman Brendan Daley.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee, led by U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Dearborn, was not expected to take up the fuel economy provisions until September. Dingell said that he was against accelerating consideration. I am not sympathetic to that, he added. Dingell met with Pelosi on the house floor Friday and had a “good conversation,” said Daly. “Pelosi and Dingell are to meet again on Monday.”

Senate Democrats held a press conference yesterday to “take a bow” in the wake of the conquest. The mandate, which requires automakers to raise fuel economy to a fleet average of 35 miles per gallon for passenger cars and light trucks combined, was added to a broad energy bill the Senate approved. Senators have turned down a less stringent fuel proposal by Levin and others that would have required 36 miles per gallon for passenger cars by 2022 and 30 miles per gallon for light trucks by 2025.

Dave McCurdy, the president and CEO of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, the trade group that represents the Detroit Three, Toyota and BMW among nine automakers, offered an assuaging statement. “Automakers support improving national fuel economy standards,” McCurdy said. “This is a long process, and we are continuing to work constructively to develop reasonable fuel economy standards that are affordable and preserve the cars and light trucks that farmers, tradesmen, business owners, outdoor enthusiasts and families need every day.”

General Motors Corp. spokesman Greg Martin expressed the automaker’s disappointment. “In their rush to do something, Congress should take the same oath as doctors: ‘First, do no harm,’” Martin said. “We’ll continue to press our case hard that we can work with them to get improved fuel economy levels without the unintended costs to the industry and consumers.” Ford and Chrysler as well as other Japanese automakers expressed the same views.

The benefit of flushing your fuel injectors

by admin on Aug.04, 2010, under How to Spark Plugs

The benefit of flushing your fuel injectors

Some of the most common complaints of drivers today, are lack of
engine performance and poor fuel economy. There are many
variables that can cause these two concerns. Old spark plugs,
clogged air filters, and plugged fuel filters are just a few of
the most commonly neglected maintenance items that cause these
complaints. One component which most people do not even think
about when it comes to tune-up maintenance is the FUEL INJECTORS.

As fuel burns within the combustion chamber, there are small
particles of carbon that are left behind. These small particles
stick to parts located within the cylinders. Over time these
become larger deposits that rob your engine of its performance
and economy. Intake and exhaust valves no longer seat properly
in the cylinder head. Fuel injectors become clogged and no
longer spray the fine atomized spray that they are designed to
for optimum performance. Carbon even sticks to the piston rings,
eventually causing oil consuption.

Regularly flushing your fuel injection system will not only
clean the fuel injectors, but will also help to clean the valves
and pistons at the same time. Another good practice to follow in
your daily quest to keep your engine maintained is to add a
cleaning agent to your fuel tank with every other fill up. This
will not prevent the carbon deposits completely, but will help
limit the amount of deposits between flushes. You will still
need to flush your fuel injectors once per year.

As gas prices continue to rise with no real end in site, we as
consumers need to take any measure we can to help with
increasing our fuel economy. Maintaining our fuel injection
systems is just one step toward achieving that goal.
